Dremel 4000 FAQ
Last month, we introduced readers to the Dremel 4000, the Dremel brand’s new top-of-the-line corded rotary tool. Now, we’re answering our readers’ most frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions, please contact the Dremel Experts via e-mail or call 800.437.3635. We can be reached Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST. When and where can I get my hands on a Dremel 4000? Dremel 4000 rotary tool kits can now be found at Lowe’s, The Home Depot, select hardware stores and home improvement centers in the United States and Canada, as well as on Amazon.com. How does the Dremel 4000 compare to other rotary tools? The Dremel 4000 is the brand’s highest performing and most versatile rotary tool yet. It is the only Dremel rotary tool compatible with all Dremel accessories and attachments, including the MS400 MultiSaw Attachment and PL400 Planer Attachment. It features a new motor that requires less effort to complete tasks, and is the only rotary tool with an electronic feedback control to facilitate consistent performance under pressure. Unlike other corded rotary tools, the speed dial is separate from the on/off switch on the Dremel 4000 and features easy-to-understand speed dial increments that correspond directly to speed. The Dremel 4000 also offers a longer warranty (5 years) compared to other models. Why is it named the Dremel 4000? What does the 4000 mean? Previously, we’ve numbered all of our rotary tools in increments of 100. Starting with this tool, we’re shifting to increments of 1000 for our numbering system. 4000 indicates that this rotary is at the top of our rotary tool line.
What are the new attachments I’ve seen in some Dremel 4000 kits, and do they only work with the Dremel 4000?In addition to the Dremel 4000 rotary tool, Dremel is introducing two new attachments: Detailers Grip, which enables the addition of a pistol grip to the tool and facilitates added control; and Sanding/Grinding Guide, which allows users to guide a work piece to a securely mounted rotary tool or guide the tool along the edge of a flat or beveled surface. Although you can currently only buy them in Dremel 4000 kits, they are compatible with all Dremel rotary tools with a threaded nosepiece. This includes all rotary tools except the Dremel Stylus and Dremel Mini-Mite. Do accessories come with the Dremel 4000? Yes. We offer different kits ranging from $79 to $149 USD ($99.99 to $179.99 CAD) depending on the accessories and attachments included. Currently, we’re offering three kits: two attachments and 30 accessories, three attachment and 34 accessories, and six attachments and 50 accessories. I already have a rotary tool. Why would I need the Dremel 4000? The Dremel 4000 is a great choice for existing rotary tool users who are looking for the next step up in rotary tool technology. The Dremel 4000 offers more versatility, higher performance and increased control compared to other rotary tool models. What types of projects can I use the Dremel 4000 on? The Dremel 4000 can be used for the widest range of projects, and is especially well–suited for DIY, woodworking, home repair/home improvement projects and hobbies.
